Increase Curb Appeal with Flowering Shrubs
If you want to create a home with more curb appeal you have many excellent options with flowering bushes. The type of bush you choose will determine when you will enjoy the gorgeous blooms that give your home a new, fresh, and exciting look. Adding a bush or two to the side or back of your yard with vibrant red, yellow, or purple blooms can completely transform the appearance of your home.
As you will discover, flowering bushes come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and blooms, all beautiful and many abundantly fragrant. These bushes will make your place more inviting and increase its curb appeal.
Some excellent choices you might consider:
Azaleas – Azaleas come in thousands of varieties and are very popular type of flowering bush with a wide variety of colors that include red, pink, orange and yellow.
Butterfly Bush – They are medium to large in size with flowers in a variety of colors such as white, purple, pink, and red.
Forsythia – Wonderful for lining walls, this bush boasts drooping sprays of yellow flowers.
Hibiscus – Blooming in mid-summer, these flowers are exotic, large, and a purple, rose/pine, or white color.
Honeysuckle – With a sweet aroma, the Honeysuckle is a climbing type of bush that is truly gorgeous.
Hydrangea – This showy bush has magnificent large blossoms in the summer with big blue globe-shaped clusters.
Lilac – Varying in size from four to eight feet blooming in the spring with the most common plumb colors being lilac, purple, pink, and white.
Snowball – Perfect for hedging, high foundations, and screening because of its mature height of 10 to 12 feet, this bush produces white, snowball-shaped flowers with crimson colored foliage in the fall.
The earliest blooms that you often find in the garden are those of the spring flowering shrubs. As you can see when you are choosing which type of shrub to use in your front yard, there are plenty to choose from. Shrubs are great because they generally do not need too much care except for pruning, and many of them provide a decent amount of privacy. This is especially important if your yard is rather open because all you have up currently is a chain-linked fence and you want your yard to be more private. These plants can also add even more beauty to plants that tend to stay the same all year round.
Flowering shrubs look best while flowering and can provide a great focal point for your yard. They also attract many birds into your garden. They are a wonderful addition to your yard, because once the blooms die back in late spring, you are still left with a beautiful backdrop of green for your flowerbed. Look at pictures of flowering shrubs to decide which you want to grow. Just make sure the one you choose will grow where you live without too much unnecessary work on your part.
We will talk about some of the selection in a little more detail next time.
