Rock Garden Landscaping
Rock gardens are features that are rising in popularity and have their own unique appeal. They are an easy way to make any yard welcoming, and they don’t require much work.
These landscape features can provide a great deal of attractiveness and provide an ideal opportunity to create a space for people to relax while they enjoy the beauty of the garden.
Rock garden landscaping is perhaps the simplest form of garden landscaping and doesn’t require anything too complicated. They are suited to those who want something simple, unique as well as attractive. You can design your rock garden to be any size or shape and it can be as simple or elaborate as you’d like. In order for it to reach its true potential, one that everyone is looking for, all you really need is to let your imagination loose. To help start the creative thinking you might want to check out some examples of rock gardens either in person or in magazines.
The rocks are used in many different ways and for many reasons. They can fill in an overly spacious area, provide a wonderful way to grow in perpetually wet areas, provide a showy array of plant life in limited space, be used as a form of retaining wall for a sloped area or simply provide a decorative alternative for landscaping. It is also a really inexpensive way to create diminutive sized walls that can help in separating different sections of your garden, thereby making it more unique looking.
Rock gardens are often thought of as having little or no flowers or vegetation; however, this is not true. Rock gardens are so simple in that you can grow anything in them. By arranging rocks in aesthetically-pleasing patterns and formations, owners can bring more attention to the few plants that do reside in the garden and they are well suited for miniature or trough gardens. They are also unique in that they don’t require much water, making them the ideal for desert or alpine climates. Due to the small size of these types of plants a large variety of plants can often be planted in a limited space. They are also perfect for numerous bulbs, flowering plants and grasses. Choosing plants that are hardy, colorful and offer long bloom cycles will ensure minimum maintenance and maximum beauty all season long.
Simple rock garden landscaping can be achieved by simply placing rocks around the plants you have and when they are chosen well they improve the overall appearance of the garden. The stones can also be aligned to suggest a bedding plane and the plants are often used to conceal the joints between the stones. This type of rockery was popular in Victorian times, often designed and built by professional landscape architects.
Rock gardens are also not hard to maintain. In fact, most of the work simply involves removing weeds on a regular basis. You obviously don’t have to maintain the rocks as is the case with plants and trees.
These types of gardens have the benefit of being highly attractive. Not only will a well formed rock garden landscape make your garden look more appealing, but it also helps in giving your property some added value. They are great for creating interest in many parts of the garden; however, I think they are best suited near the house or patio. The bottom line is that rock garden landscaping is really a useful way of improving the looks of your garden making it more scenically appealing, and adding to its uniqueness as well.
