The Adirondack Chair, another Great Gift for Christmas
Adirondack chairs are familiar even to those who have never had the good fortune to visit the Adirondack Mountains of New York state. Thomas Lee who was seeking ways to furnish his summer home invented Adirondack chairs in the early 1900s. While many variations on the Adirondack chairs can be found, the essential spirit of the chairs has not changed much from its earliest form as outdoor seating for modest cabins, rustic mountain hotels and elegant and luxurious mountain retreats.
Adirondack chairs are popular for their essential comfort, making anyone feel at home. This makes them perfect to be placed in any convenient outdoor settings such as the patio or lawn. They are relaxing and calming and perfect for you as you bask in the glory of the outdoors. They are comfortable because the chair back inclines 30 degrees and is curved to conform to your back
giving excellent lower back support. Its deep, angled seat and broad arm rests, make the perfect place for a plate of food and a refreshing drink. They are also becoming popular as outdoor seating at cafes, because the flat armrests make it possible to provide individual seating without using tables. Adirondack chairs are also popular because if they are properly cared for they will stay in great condition for years to come.
Adirondack chairs are available in a variety of woods including cedar, redwood and maple. Cedar wood is highly resistible to sun, rain, frost or snow. Therefore, you can keep them outside your house all year long without any fear. Cedar wood is also naturally durable over time, so your cedar Adirondack chair will last for many summers to come. You can choose to leave it natural, which is my choice, or use various finishes.
Cedar is a very dependable choice for outdoor furniture either as a finished or unfinished wood. Over time unfinished cedar left outdoors will weather to a silvery gray patina. Some people though like to paint them in hues from forest green to neon pink – whatever suits your personal style.
They are also available in a classic style which is one where the slats come to a peak in the middle or the shellback design where the back of the chair is rounded to look like a sea shell.
Adirondack chairs are recognized around the world as one of the most comfortable outdoor chairs available. Perfect for the beach, the yard, the garden, camping or the summer cabin, these chairs are a staple of the great outdoors. They look best when used in pairs, or sets of three. So when buying, buy two or three to scatter around your deck or patio, or create a cute conversation nook by placing a couple of them face to face.
These chairs were made for outdoor use and are very sturdy no matter what the weather; however, they can also be used indoors as well. A children’s Adirondack chair would look great in any home as a seat or decoration. They are also very affordable for the quality of craftsmanship that you receive.
This cedar outdoor furniture design looks great in any recreational setting and is perfect for your back yard!

I know very little about it and am not promoting it just an answer to your question though I’m not sure what this has to do with adirondack chairs like at http://outdoorcedars.com.
